A letter from the kerr family
Our son, Patrick Ryan Kerr, was born on March 31, 2016. He was born with a heart defect called VSD (ventricular septal defect) but was strong and full of energy. He later developed asthma and was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, but you would never know that looking at him because he always had a smile on his face and was a very active little boy. On February 3, 2019, heaven gained an angel and our lives were forever changed. Patrick passed away from heart failure due to complications from cardiomyopathy. Patrick brought so much joy to our family and all who met him. He will be missed and will forever be in our hearts.
After this tragic loss, we wanted to find a way to turn this horrible tragedy into a positive legacy for Patrick. We have received a tremendous amount of love and support from our family and friends and will be forever grateful for the impact it has made during our grieving process. We also recognize how much grief therapy has helped our family, which is why we would like to share our experience in hopes of connecting other families in our community to the Avery Centre.
We decided to create Under Patrick's Wings to support other families grieving from child loss. Child loss is one of the hardest experiences anyone can go through, but we hope that our support will make an impact to other families during their difficult time.
Patrick loved airplanes which was the inspiration behind our organization's logo. He made sure to wave to every airplane he saw in the sky. Seeing an airplane fly over is now a gentle reminder to our family that our guardian angel is watching over us from above, and now we make sure to wave to our sweet boy.
We want to thank you for your continued love and support for not only our family, but for the families that we hope to reach in the future.
